Monterrey Shelter
|
With no private animal sheltering system, government animal control facilities in most of Mexico are basically catch and kill operations with no adoption programs. Sadly, the government does not provide money for adequate shelter, food, or veterinary care for animals in the Centro Anti Rabicos (CARs). Most disturbing, however, is the fact that animals are destroyed by electrocution or drowning, so not to spend money on humane alternatives.
By working closely with public health officials in Monterrey, Saving Animals Across Borders' international training team has converted all seven CARs in Mexico's second largest city to humane euthanasia by injection for homeless animals.
