Fix Houston Clinic Opens - the Mickey Hagey Center for Animals in West Houston
|
Located at 17575 Katy Freeway, between Hwy. 6 and Barker Cypress Road, Saving Animals' newest spay and neuter clinic opened in November of 2007. The City of Houston, Mayor Bill White, Shane McCardell, and Tena & Tyson Faust joined forces last year to dedicate the state-of-the-art facility in memory of Mickey Hagey, a life-long supporter of animal protection and human rights causes.
As soon as Citizens for Animal Protection joined the team to end dog and cat overpopulation in Houston by donating use of land for the clinic in March, 2007, all lights turned green. After permitting, clearing brush, waiting for dry weather to pour the foundation, the modern, ultra high-tech center for animals building arrived.
This initiative to help reduce the number of homeless animals in Houston, by creating a clinic where 6,000 to 10,000 dogs and cats will be sterilized each year, was made possible by generous gifts from Mr. Mickey Hagey, PetSmart Charities, and many friends of animals in our city.
Clinic hours: Wednesday through Saturday 7 a.m. until 6 p.m., with wellness services from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
